Please may I introduce you to one of the most beautiful contemporary illustrated books I have seen in a very long time.
"Garden Wisdom" is illustrated by a wonderful British artist, Angie Lewin, and edited by a leading writer on gardening, Leslie Geddes-Brown. Essentially, this is a collection of essays on gardens and gardening by a wide variety of writers such as Vita Sackville West (who created the famous Kent garden, Sissinghurst), the 60's interior decorator David Hicks, Edith Wharton (a dedicated gardener as well as novelist) and the Duchess of Devonshire (whose Chatsworth garden is spectacular).
I fell in love with Angie's delicate and almost other worldly prints the minute I saw them three or more years ago. Working primarily in lino cut, lithography and wood engraving, she is inspired by the skeletal outlines of flowers and seeds.
You can buy her prints through the St. Jude's Gallery - www.stjudesprints.co.uk - which specializes in limited edition prints by both contemporary and earlier British artists such as Eric Ravillious and Edward Bawden.
"Garden Wisdom" can be bought on Amazon - www.amazon.co.uk/Garden-Wisdom-Leslie-Geddes-Brown/dp/1858944627
