The wonderful black and white striped Henri Bendel's bag, the great plain chic of Bloomingdales' "Little Brown Bag", both in New York, and London's Joseph's eye-catching black/white statement bag - no, none of these are that now dated idea of "it" bags but just plain old paper shopping bags that became delicious desirable items all on their own (alongside the shopping bags from Chanel, Gucci, Prada, D&G, etc.).
