There is no question but that I am a traditionalist. Colefax & Fowler is my decorator of choice. But just sometimes I will fall in love with something completely modern in design just because it is so perfect and right for purpose.

And so we come to this sleek contemporary glass and metal fire log "basket" by Vedforvaring which was found at the Stockholm Furniture Fair. And I put "basket" in quotes because although this is not woven wicker, it does the same job - holding neatly stacked logs in place until you want to toss one into the flames. As always, The Stockholm Furniture Fair provides a key source for the most exciting new Scandinavian design. Amid a general mood of positiveness and optimism, the main trends for this season were:

new hybrids of office & home (a major trend for the future as
more and more of us work from home, at least part of the time) 

lots of bold colour, including solid colours for sofas

contrasts in neutral colours and materials

imaginative new surfaces

linens and wools on sofas

strong natural inspiration

curving, modern forms
